1984
The beginnig of 1984 is boring and is a drag to read. But as I got further into the story I found it more interesting. I've heard of the quote "big brother is watching you" but I never knew where it was from. I like the way the main character, Winston, goes against the whole idea. The fact that they have thought police is very disturbing. Winston is not a believer of Big Brother at all. It is outrageous how strict the government is in this story.

The quote "big brother is watching you" i also heard before but didnt know where it was from. I agree that the thought police disturb me and just the whole idea of the Big Brother scares me.
ReplyDeleteI also like the way that Winston was not afraid to be his own person and be different. I can't even imagine having thought police watching me and the government being so strict.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to everyone else in saying that the only quote I knew was "Big Brother is watching you". I never knew the true meaning of it though until I read the book. I really was shocked how even when Winston tried to rebel, he couldn't. And how they wouldn't even let him die for his cause. It's very scary that nothing can be done to rebel against Big Brother.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the book was a little boring in the beginning. I also agree that the whole Big Brother and thought-police would be very disturbing and I don't know what I would do if I had to live like that.
